Dr. Henry Walton Jones Jr (Let's call him the Raider of the Lost Arc) is a professor of history and archaeology and the main protagonist of a famous George Lucas film franchise. Lucas created the character in homage to the action heroes of 1930s serial films. Indiana Jones first appeared in the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark, and followed in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008.
