The term Viking is describes the acts of the Norsemen from Norway, Iceland, Denmark & Sweden who raided the coasts of the British Isles, & other parts of Europe from the late 8th - 11th century. Famed for their long ships, Vikings in a few hundred years colonized the coasts and rivers of Europe, the islands of Shetland, Orkney, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland, & for a short while also Newfoundland.
